For steps on how to activate a PINpad terminal, continue reading below.
You may either have received either a PAX S300 PINpad or the PAX A35 PINpad;
please see the activation steps for your specific model of PINpad terminal below:
Activating the PAX A35
For PAX A35 PINpads, an un-activated PINpad should show the screen below.
Simple click on the Paygistix icon and follow through with the instructions shown on the screen.
Activating the PAX S300
For PAX S300 PINpads, an un-activated PINpad should show the screen below.
To activate the PINpad, simply reboot the power to this PINpad.
Do this by opening the Value Add Center, locating the DC power jack, and then unplugging and reconnecting it.
Note. Ensure that:
1)The VAC has a connection to the internet and is online
2)The red ethernet plug as a cable going to the control board
During the reboot, the terminal should start download various updates. It normally takes about 5 minutes.
If the PINpad returns to the same screen as before (showing BroadPOS), it means that the configuration for your terminal has not been finalized yet.
It usually takes several days to create the configuration after your payment processing account is approved;
If the PINpad terminal still isn't activating itself, you want to speak to your payment processor about this issue.
After a successful download, the terminal should display the name and logo of the payment processor.
For example:
No further configuration is necessary in the vast majority of cases.
You may need to wait up to 10 minutes for the VAC control board to synchronize with the PINpad terminal.
Once the sync happens, you'll be ready to accept credit/debit card payments!
Configuring Static IPs
In rare cases, you may need to set static IPs on the payment terminal manually.
See the attached PDF on the method to do this.
