How to Set Up Your Zebra Sticker Printer (ZD421 or GK420D)

Load sticker paper and connect the Zebra ZD421 label printer to print customer name, order number, and bag counts.

Written by Euri

A Zebra sticker printer prints a label for each order so your team can identify bags quickly. Each sticker shows the customer name, order number, number of bags (B), and number of hanging packages (H). Cents works with the Zebra ZD421 and GK420D.

Use this if you're setting up a Zebra sticker printer, or your printer is printing blank or extra labels.

Set up a Zebra ZD421

  1. Load the sticker roll in the orientation shown. You can slide the brackets in or out to fit the roll.

  2. Plug the power cable into the back of the printer.

  3. Turn the printer on with the power button on top.

  4. Pull the QR code tag on the back of the printer to expose the port, then plug the USB-B end of the cable into the printer.

  5. Plug the other end into the side of the Sunmi or a USB port on the back of the device.

  6. In the Employee App, tap the main menu icon in the upper-left corner and select Connections.

  7. Turn on Use ZEBRA printer.

  8. A pop-up asks for access. Tap OK.

  9. The blue dot shows the sticker printer is connected.

  10. Two stickers feed through automatically to calibrate the printer. It's ready to use.

Set up a Zebra GK420D

The GK420D sets up the same way, with a few hardware differences:

  • Load the sticker roll in the orientation shown. The brackets are blue on this model.

  • Plug in the power cable, then turn the printer on with the switch on the back.

  • Plug the USB-B end of the cable into the back of the printer.

  • Plug the other end into the Sunmi, then follow steps 6 to 10 above to connect it in the Employee App.

Important things to know

  • The access pop-up and the two calibration stickers happen every time you restart the sticker printer.

  • Replacement stickers: 2.25 x 4 in direct thermal labels (perforated shipping labels compatible with Rollo and Zebra desktop printers).

Troubleshooting

  • The printer prints an extra blank label.
Open the lid and slide the small yellow sensor so it sits centered under the labels, with the gray guides snug against the roll. Close the lid (solid green light), then hold Pause and Cancel together for about 2 seconds to calibrate. Print a test label.

  • The printer isn't connected in the app.
Check the USB cable at both ends, then turn Use ZEBRA printer off and on in Connections and tap OK.

  • Labels are misaligned or the printer acts up.
Factory reset it: turn it off, hold Pause and Feed, turn it on while holding, release when only the status light is lit or flashing. It will feed blank labels to calibrate.
