This article covers installation of readers on Alliance washers (Speed-Queen, Huebsch) with the V-computer controls. These typically have model numbers SCxxVCVQU1

Required parts

  1. Reader (model CR-11-117-22. The board should be ASSY-02-02-11 (Generic Relay))

  2. Cable harness

  3. 12V power supply

Installation Steps

Step 1: Turn Machine Power Off

Step 2: Remove coin drop

Step 3: Number the reader using the DIP switch

Step 4: Connect cable harness

The reader's START wires (white and green) should connect between Coin1 and Ground on the machine control board:

You can simply re-use the existing wire harness from the coin-drop, and splice into the Green and Blue wires like this:

Step 5: Connect power supply

Connect the 120Vac side of the power supply, either to an available wall outlet, or splice the power supply directly to the machine, using an appropriate high-voltage connection inside the machine.

When connecting to the machine directly, you'll be cutting off the AC prong, and splicing these wires directly to the machine (we recommend consulting the manufacturer, or an electrician, to confirm this type of connection).

Step 6: Mount the Reader

No drilling is required.

Step 7: Activate the Reader

Use the provided Activation Card to active the reader:

Setting Vend Prices

Troubleshooting

Below are problems that are sometimes encountered with this machine. For more general reader troubleshooting, see Reader Support Process

Issue

Explanation and resolution

Cycle not starting

Ensure to change the washer's settings such that it starts with one pulse. In other words, change the price to 25cents or less.
