Connecting your bank account is how you get paid. Once it's linked, the online payments your customers make through Cents are deposited into your account. Cents uses Stripe, a trusted payment processor, to verify your details and send your payouts securely.
Before you start
Use a desktop or laptop computer. This process doesn't work well on a phone or tablet.
Have your business details ready (legal business name and business type), matching what's on file with your Secretary of State.
Have your bank routing number and account number handy. The account should be in your business or DBA name.
Allow pop-ups for admin.trycents.com so the Stripe verification window can open.
How to connect your bank account
Log in to the Cents Business Manager at admin.trycents.com and make sure you're in the Admin portal.
Go to Account Settings and open the Payments tab.
Click Get Started, then click Verify Business.
Stripe's verification window opens in a new tab. Follow the prompts: choose whether your account belongs to an individual (sole proprietor) or a company/nonprofit, matching your actual business type, then enter your business and identification details exactly as they're filed.
Review the summary and click Submit.
Return to the admin.trycents.com tab and refresh the page. You should see a green Verified message.
Enter your bank routing number and account number, then click Submit.
When you see the confirmation screen, you're all set.
Important things to know
Match your business type. Choosing the wrong type (for example, sole proprietor when you're actually a company) can cause problems later.
The bank account must be in your business or DBA name. A mismatch can cause Stripe to freeze the account for non-compliance.
Verification is handled by Stripe. Cents partners with Stripe to process payments; Stripe confirms your identity and bank details.
Payouts follow a schedule. Once connected, payouts usually arrive within a couple of business days and aren't sent on weekends or bank holidays.
Using more than one bank account
You can connect more than one bank account and send different locations' payouts to different accounts. On the Payments page, click Connect another bank account and complete the same verification steps, then use Edit Assigned Locations to choose which account each location pays out to. For details, see How to Add Multiple Bank Accounts to Cents.
Troubleshooting
The Stripe window didn't open. A pop-up blocker is likely stopping it. Allow pop-ups for admin.trycents.com and click Verify Business again.
"Invalid Account Number. Account number must be at least 12 characters long." Try adding 00 in front of your account number, then submit again.
It still doesn't say "Verified." Refresh the Payments page. If Stripe asked for more information, finish those prompts and refresh again.
Payouts are paused or the account is frozen. This is usually a business-type or bank-name mismatch. Double-check those details and contact Support.
