ALWAYS POWER DOWN MACHINES THROUGHOUT DEVICE INSTALLATION.
Please reference the general Penny and Pulse Installation guides found below:
Required Materials
Cents device (Penny or Pulse)
Harness (30-00963)
Flying Lead Power Adapter with Spade Connectors (30-01339)
24V Adapter (81-01613) single dryers only
2x Splices (81-01616) single dryers only
Purchasing the Cents Install Kit is optional but recommended.
Harness Installation Steps
Stacked Dryers
Identify the 6-pin male header labeled SERIAL COM on the Dexter control board.
Using the 30-00963 harness, plug the female 6-pin connector into this header.
Identify two leads (black and white) each with a male spade connector surrounded by a clear plastic covering. Using the 30-01339 harness, connect the female spade connector ends to these wires.
Plug in the male 2-pin connector from the 30-01339 harness into the female 2-pin connector on the 30-00963 harness.
Connect the Penny via the 16-pin connector and test power.
Single Dryers
The process for connecting the serial connector on single dryers is identical to that for stacked dryers. Simply identify the 6-pin header labeled "SERIAL COM"
Power, however, is slightly different for single dryers. There is no 24VAC transformer that is easily accessible. As such, use the 81-01613 24V adapter.
Identify the 120VAC transformer
Using the 81-01616 splices, connect the 81-01613 24V adapter to the 120VAC side of the transformer, each wire of the adapter to one wire of the transformer
Connect the male 2-pin connector on the 81-01613 24V adapter to the female 2-pin connector on the 30-00963 harness.
Device Installation Steps
ALWAYS ENSURE DRYER TAPE IS USED
There are minor differences between stacked and single dryers. Follow the relevant guide below. For general device mounting instructions, see the Penny General Guide.
Stacked Dryers
Note: only one device is used per each Dexter stack.
There is only one reasonable mounting location for devices on Dexter stacked dryers due to the location of the main machine control board. See the image below:
As for location specifics, note that the central hole of the Penny should be outside of the outer drum guard, roughly in the green square shown below. The harness may route where the orange line is shown, and should be notched out in this area to keep from pinching the harness. Keep penetrations on the machine panel away from the red area.
Note that devices should be mounted sufficiently low so as to clear the movement of the adjacent door, as shown in the image below:
Single Dryers
Depending on machine size and owner preference, devices can be mounted on the top panel either directly to the right of the control board or on the main machine front panel near the coin vault. Always ensure that ergonomic requirements are met and that all responsible parties agree on the installation location before drilling.
Once an installation location is chosen, machines can be prepped for drilling and mounting. Depending on the installer's dexterity and the machine's size, front panels may or may not need to be removed. Note that, to remove the front panel of these machines, the doors must also be removed. Machines roughly 40lb. and larger do not absolutely require that front panels be removed, though this is best practice and Cents' recommendation.
Consult the general guide for installation specifics.
Device Programming
Ensure that the VLAN setup has already been performed in order to move forward with device provisioning.
Follow the generic Penny Installation guide for overall instructions on device provisioning. Shown below are machine-specific provisioning instructions for Dexter C-Series Washers.
Scan the QR code with any smartphone. A URL with the device's unique ID will be opened. You will be prompted with a login page. Use the provided login. After logging in, a provisioning page for that device will appear.
For this machine type, the settings are below:
Fleet: Name of the location you are installing should populate here
Type: Dryer
Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention. If the store names each machine pocket, it is acceptable to name the machine with both numbers; only letters and numbers should be placed here. Do not place any dashes or slash marks
Machine Interface: SERIAL
Serial Type: DEXTER
Price: Ignore
Other Price: Ignore
Release: Ignore unless told to change by support staff
Screen Saver Timeout: Ignore
After pressing Save Changes, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots, it displays its QR code, which can be scanned to verify the settings previously selected for that device. If a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.
Machine Programming
These machines do not require reprogramming to successfully install Cents devices.
