ALWAYS POWER DOWN MACHINES THROUGHOUT DEVICE INSTALLATION.

Please reference the general Penny and Pulse Installation guides found below:

Required Materials

  1. Cents device (Penny or Pulse)

  2. Harness (30-01023)

  3. Serial Jumper (30-00898)

  4. Flying Lead Power Adapter (30-00872) optional

Purchasing the Cents Install Kit is optional but recommended.

Harness Installation Steps

The instructions below are relevant for both washers and dryers. There are minor variations for Washer-Extractors, Front-Load Washers, Top-Load Washers, Dryers, and Tumblers, but the general connections are identical.

  1. Identify the 7-pin male header on the machine control board. Using the 30-00963 harness, plug the female 7-pin connector into this header.

  2. Identify the coin drop, and the harness that connects the coin drop to the machine control board via a 3-pin connector. Disconnect this connector.

  3. Take the male 3-pin connector on the 30-01023 harness and plug it into the female 3-pin connector on the coin drop.

  4. Take the male 3-pin connector on the machine interface and plug it into the female 3-pin connector on the 30-01023 harness.

Serial Jumper: Washers Only

WASHERS ONLY: On the main control board, identify the male 6-pin header. Plug the 30-00898 serial jumper onto this header. Note that there is a similar 6-pin header on the larger relay board. This is NOT the correct header. The correct header is on the main machine control board.

For dryer installations, ensure that this jumper is NOT installed.

Existing 2-Pin Power Connection

MOST MACHINES will include a free male 2-pin connector on a harness connected to the main control board. Plug in the female 2-pin connector from the 30-01023 harness into the female 2-pin connector on the 30-00963 harness.

Connect the Penny via the 16-pin connector and test power.

Flying Lead 2-Pin Power Connection

If the existing 2-pin male connector is not present, power can be tapped using the 30-00872 flying lead adapter provided by Cents.

  1. Locate the relay board, as shown below

  2. At the rear right of the relay board, there is a 4-pin connector with two pins populated with a red and white cable. There will be two pins empty.

  3. Using the 30-00872 adapter, plug in the contacts into the two open locations. Order does not matter.

  4. Connect the Penny via the 16-pin connector and test power.

Minor Variations

The control board of a Front-Load Washer is shown below. The 2-pin power connector at the top, the serial jumper at the top-right, and 7-pin connector and the bottom-left can be clearly seen.

Device Installation Steps

Consult the general guide for installation specifics.

Washers

Depending on machine size and owner preference, devices can be mounted in various locations. Always ensure that ergonomic requirements are met and that all responsible parties are in agreement on the installation location before drilling.

Dryers

Single dryers have various locations that will work for device mounting. Always ensure harness length is sufficient. Devices can be mounted on stacked dryers in two locations, shown by the red and blue squares below.

Device Programming

Ensure that the VLAN setup has already been performed in order to move forward with device provisioning.

Follow the generic Penny Installation guide for overall instructions on device provisioning. Shown below are machine-specific provisioning instructions for Dexter C-Series Washers.

Using any smartphone, scan the QR code. A URL with the device's unique ID will be opened. You will be prompted with a login page. Use the provided login. After logging in, a provisioning page for that device will appear.

Washers

  1. For this machine type, copy the settings as shown above:

    1. Washer

    2. Device Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention.

    3. Short device Name: This identifier will prepend each credit card transaction unique ID. Most commonly users prepend the number with "W".

    4. Choose Machine Type: SERIAL

    5. Choose Serial Type: CENTURION/MDC

    6. Price in Dollars: Ignore

    7. Minutes per Quarter: Ignore

  2. After pressing submit, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots it will display its QR code which can be scanned to verify the settings previously chosen for that device. In the event that a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.

Dryers

  1. For this machine type, copy the settings as shown above:

    1. Dryer

    2. Device Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention.

    3. Short device Name: This identifier will prepend each credit card transaction unique ID. Most commonly users prepend the number with "D".

    4. Choose Machine Type: GPIO

    5. Choose Serial Type: CENTURION/MDC

    6. Price in Dollars: Default price shown on the device.

    7. Minutes per Quarter: How many minutes $0.25 will buy you.

  2. After pressing submit, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots it will display its QR code which can be scanned to verify the settings previously chosen for that device. In the event that a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.

Machine Programming - Dryers Only

Dryers require coin pulse settings to be set to "multiple." See the video or the steps below to do this.

  1. Open the control board area to allow Manual Mode to be entered.

  2. Press HIGH TEMP and MED TEMP together to enter Manual Mode.

  3. Using the LOW TEMP (∧) and DELICATES (∨) buttons, navigate to the ProG menu. Press START to enter this menu.

  4. Navigate to the PLSn menu. Press START to enter this menu.

  5. Set this value to 192 and press the START button to confirm.

  6. Press the MED TEMP (<) button until manual mode has been exited.
