Please reference the general Penny and Pulse Installation guides found below:

ALWAYS POWER DOWN MACHINES THROUGHOUT DEVICE INSTALLATION.

Required Materials

  1. Cents device (Penny or Pulse)

  2. Harness (30-01023 or 30-01341)

Purchasing the Cents Install Kit is optional but recommended.

Harness Installation Steps

  1. Identify the 7-pin male header on the control board (orange arrow)

  2. Identify the 2-pin connector labeled H10 on the control board (red arrow). Connected to this connector will be a harness which is bundled with other wires. A male 2-pin connector will be available.

  3. Using the Cents' harness, plug the female 7-pin connector into the header labeled with the orange arrow. Plug in the female 2-pin connector into the male 2-pin connector that is connected to H10.

  4. Identify the coin drop. Disconnect the 3-pin connector at the rear of the coin drop.

  5. Plug in the male 3-pin connector of the Cents harness into the female 3-pin connector on the coin drop.

  6. Plug in the female 3-pin connector of the Cents harness into the male 3-pin connector on the machine interface (the connector that was formerly connected to the coin drop).

  7. Connect the Penny via the 16-pin connector and test power.

Device Installation Steps

Depending on machine size and owner preference, devices can be mounted in various places. Always ensure that ergonomic requirements are met and that all responsible parties are in agreement on the installation location before drilling.

Ensure that the provided harness length will match the chosen mounting location.

Consult the general guide for installation specifics.

Device Programming

Ensure that the VLAN setup has already been performed in order to move forward with device provisioning.

Follow the generic Penny Installation guide for overall instructions on device provisioning. Shown below are machine-specific provisioning instructions for Dexter C-Series Washers.

Using any smartphone, scan the QR code. A URL with the device's unique ID will be opened. You will be prompted with a login page. Use the provided login. After logging in, a provisioning page for that device will appear.

  1. For this machine type, copy the settings as shown above:

    1. Washer/Dryer depending upon machine

    2. Device Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention. Note that duplicates are not allowed. If for some reason you need to input a duplicate number, simply prefix it with '0'. E.g. Washer01

    3. Short device Name: This identifier will prepend each credit card transaction unique ID. Most commonly users prepend the number with "W" for washers and "D" for dryers.

    4. Choose Machine Type: SERIAL

    5. Choose Serial Type: MIDAS

    6. Price in Dollars: Ignore

    7. Minutes per Quarter: Ignore

  2. After pressing submit, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots it will display its QR code which can be scanned to verify the settings previously chosen for that device. In the event that a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.

Machine Programming

Midas machines require reprogramming via the touchscreen (or by IR programmer) to enable serial communications. To to this, manual mode must be entered by disconnecting the bullet connector located in the machine, as shown below:

  1. Once this is disconnected, use the "secret button" located in the middle of the top banner for about 5 seconds

  2. Press the “System Menu Access” hidden button as shown above.

  3. Navigate through the menu to “Payment Settings”

  4. Enable “Serial Payment System” within the “Vend Setting” by navigating to the “Serial/Pulse Interface” submenu.

  5. Reboot the machine for the change to take effect.

Midas touch control can at times fail to accept these settings for various reasons. It sometimes requires resetting the machine and/or configuring the settings shown above more than once. If the device does not show the correct idle screen, double check these settings and ensure the machine has been rebooted.
