ALWAYS POWER DOWN MACHINES THROUGHOUT DEVICE INSTALLATION.

This guide refers to installation procedures for Electrolux Compass Pro and Clarus Vibe machines. Please reference the general Penny and Pulse Installation guides found below:

Required Materials

  1. Cents device (Penny or Pulse)

  2. Harness (30-01339)

  3. 2x Splices (81-01616) dryers only

Purchasing the Cents Install Kit is optional but recommended.

Harness Installation Steps - Washer

  1. Locate the control board, directly behind the user interface of the machine and identify the location on the board labeled RS232. This is where the device will get power and where it will communicate with the machine.

  2. Locate the 4-pin connector on the 30-01336 harness and plug this into the control board.

    1. Note the keying ribs on the top of the connector and the mating features on the control board. Take care to install the connector in the correct orientation. Note that this might not be the same orientation as the other connectors already installed on the board. The connector has mating teeth that will only allow the connector to be installed in one orientation; do not force the connector in.

  3. Identify the coin drop and locate the coin drop connector, it should be on a secondary board.

  4. Unplug the 3-pin connector from the board and plug it into the and unplug it from the board. Take the 3-pin PCB labeled 24-01368 on the 30-01336 harness, and plug it into the coin drop connector, taking care to align the pins with the respective colors.

  5. Note that some harnesses include a female 2-pin connector which can be ignored and will be left disconnected.

  6. Note also that some harnesses include two bare wires which can be ignored and will be left disconnected for all washer installations.

  7. Route cables in such a way that they are neatly bundled and will not be pinched or damaged in any way when the machine cover is reinstalled

Harness Installation Steps - Dryer

In the image above see the coin drop connector (red arrows), the 6-pin coin board connector and splices (orange arrows), the 4-pin power connector (green arrow).

  1. Locate the control board, directly behind the user interface of the machine and identify the location on the board labeled RS232.

  4. Unplug the 3-pin connector from the board and plug it into the and unplug it from the board. Take the 3-pin PCB labeled 24-01368 on the 30-01336 harness, and plug it into the coin drop connector, taking care to align the pins with the respective colors.

  5. On the coin board, there is a 6-pin connector. The wires may be either white or blue. Identify the wires connected to the pins labeled "GND" and "COIN 1"

  6. Using the provided splices, splice the WHITE wire of the 30-01336 harness to the GND wire. Splice the BLUE wire of the 30-01336 harness to the COIN 1 wire (see arrows above).

    1. Ensure the splices are fully engaged

      1. Ensure the metal spade on the red crimp is fully seated and flush with the connect body, then close the insulating cover.

    2. Note that some Cents harnesses will alternatively include BLUE and WHITE wires. In this case, the WHITE wire is the GND wire (equivalent to BLACK), and the BLUE wire is the COIN wire (equivalent to orange).

  7. Note that some harnesses include a female 2-pin connector which can be ignored and will be left disconnected.

  8. Route cables in such a way that they are neatly bundled and will not be pinched or damaged in any way when the machine cover is reinstalled

Device Installation Steps

Depending on machine size and owner preference, devices can be mounted in various locations. Always ensure that ergonomic requirements are met and that all responsible parties are in agreement on the installation location before drilling.

Washers

Soft mount machines, in general, have fewer mounting options. Clarus Vibe machines also, in general, have fewer mounting options than Compass Pro. Always ensure that the chosen mounting location will leave sufficient harness length.

Some mounting options are shown below:

Dryers

On stacked dryers keeping coin, there is only one possible device mounting location as shown below:

image-20231120-150109.png

Note in the image above that space is tight in the stacked dryer installation. Care must be taken to avoid the roller with the harness as it exits the rear of the Penny device. A hole must be drilled to route the harness from the upper area to the control board area.

For coinless installations, check with Cents for available brackets.

Consult the general guide for installation specifics.

NOTE: After the device has been properly connected to a dryer provisioned and comes online to the ready to accept payment screen, the machine may need to be power cycled once to set the correct coin polarity in the machine control

Some mounting options are shown below:

Device Programming

Ensure that the VLAN setup has already been performed in order to move forward with device provisioning.

Follow the generic Penny Installation guide for overall instructions on device provisioning. Shown below are machine-specific provisioning instructions for Dexter C-Series Washers.

Using any smartphone, scan the QR code. A URL with the device's unique ID will be opened. You will be prompted with a login page. Use the provided login. After logging in, a provisioning page for that device will appear.

Washers

  1. For this machine type, copy the settings as shown above:

    1. Washer

    2. Device Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention.

    3. Short device Name: This identifier will prepend each credit card transaction unique ID. Most commonly users prepend the number with "W".

    4. Choose Machine Type: SERIAL

    5. Choose Serial Type: ELECTROLUX

    6. Price in Dollars: Ignore

    7. Minutes per Quarter: Ignore

  2. After pressing submit, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots it will display its QR code which can be scanned to verify the settings previously chosen for that device. In the event that a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.

Dryers

  1. For this machine type, copy the settings as shown above:

    1. Dryer

    2. Device Number: Input the machine number according to the store's numbering convention.

    3. Short device Name: This identifier will prepend each credit card transaction unique ID. Most commonly users prepend the number with "W".

    4. Choose Machine Type: GPIO

    5. Choose Serial Type: ELECTROLUX

    6. Price in Dollars: Default price shown on the device

    7. Minutes per Quarter: How many minutes of dry time $0.25 will buy

  2. After pressing submit, the device will reboot. Each time the device reboots it will display its QR code which can be scanned to verify the settings previously chosen for that device. In the event that a setting was entered incorrectly, contact Cents.

Machine Programming

Electrolux Dryers do not require special programming for correct functionality of Cents devices. That being said, some steps must be taken to ensure pricing and programming is correct. In particular, pricing for washers must be shared with Cents ahead of time to ensure that

Dryers

For dryers: vend settings will be programmed directly on the machine as normal. Because the device does not communicate serially with the machine, each device will be programmed with the associated price and minutes per quarter individually. If the machine prices changes, the device pricing must be changed manually.

Washers

Make a copy of the sheet below and fill in machine prices. Share this document with Cents to ensure devices are programmed correctly.

Compass Pro

Beginning with the default vend cycle, turn the knob clockwise, noting each cycle price as it appears. Note also the price of the two cycle extras. Provide this list of cycles to Cents for device programming.

Clarus Vibe

Various cycles can be activated on the touch control. The screen fits 8 cycles, and this amount (or fewer) is recommended. Beginning with the cycle in the top left of the screen and following the page as one would read a book, note each cycle price as it appears. Provide this list of cycles to Cents for device programming.
