Dexter C-Series Washer and Dryer (Pulse) Install Guide

Wiring steps for installing Pulse on Dexter C-Series washers using the SERIAL COM header and 30-00963 harness.

Written by Euri

This guide shows how to install a Cents Pulse on Dexter C-Series washers and dryers, including the serial harness and power connections.

Use this if you're installing a Pulse on a Dexter C-Series washer or dryer.

Always power down the machine before you start, and keep it off until the install is done.

Washer installation

  1. Power off the machine and open the machine.

  2. Identify the 6-pin male header labeled SERIAL COM on the Dexter control board.

  3. Using the 30-00963 harness, plug the female 6-pin connector into this header.

  4. Identify the 24VAC transformer. There will be two red/orange wires at its output.

  5. Splice onto 24AC output of the transformer. Connect to the AC input of the provided AC-DC Adapter. Connect the 30-00899 connector to the DC output of the AC-DC Adapter.

  6. Plug in the male 2-pin connector from the 30-00899 harness into the female 2-pin connector on the 30-00963 harness.

  7. Using the adhesives on the back of the Pulse, attach it to the back of the machine with the antenna pointed into open air. Connect the Cents harness to the Pulse. Ensure the LEDs on the Pulse are illuminated.

Dryer installation

Note: The location of machine cables may differ for single vs stacked dryer configurations. For both machine configurations, a single Pulse is used.

  1. Power off the machine and open the machine.

  2. Identify the 6-pin male header labeled SERIAL COM on the Dexter control board.

  3. Using the 30-00963 harness, plug the female 6-pin connector into this header.

  4. Identify two leads (black and white) each with a male spade connector surrounded by a clear plastic covering. Using the 30-01339 harness, connect the female spade connector ends to these wires.

  5. Strip the 30-01339 Harness removing the 2 pin connector. Insert the leads into the AC terminals of the AC/DC Adapter. Using the 30-00899 harness, insert the leads into the DC terminals of the AC/DC Adapter.

Important things to know

  • The Cents harness plugs into the 6-pin SERIAL COM header on the Dexter control board.

  • Washers take power from the 24VAC transformer. Dryers use the 30-01339 spade connector harness.

  • Stacked and single dryers both use a single Pulse.

Troubleshooting

  • The Pulse LEDs aren't on.
Check that the machine has power and that the harness connectors are fully seated, including the 2-pin power connector or power adapter.

  • The device doesn't show online.
Make sure the Cents network (VLAN) is set up at the store and the device has been set up. See How to Set Up Your Cents Connect Network (VLAN).
