How delivery fees work

Who sets and pays what depends on your driver option. In Business Manager under Delivery Settings, you can use your own drivers or Cents on-demand drivers, and you can enable each per location.

How delivery fees work

Delivery fees depend on who fulfills the delivery — your own drivers or a Cents on-demand partner — and a few other charges can apply. Here’s how each one works and how it shows up on your bill.

Your own drivers

  • You set the pickup and delivery fees, windows, buffer, and subsidy yourself in Delivery Settings.

  • Cents doesn’t charge a delivery fee for these orders — you keep what you charge the customer.

Cents on-demand pickup & delivery

  • A Cents on-demand partner fulfills these orders. The delivery fee isn’t a flat rate — it’s calculated per job, based on distance and demand.

  • Your customer pays the delivery fee at checkout, and Cents then charges you for the courier cost.

  • The customer’s price can include extras, such as a state-mandated fee or insurance.

  • Subsidy: you can optionally cover part or all of the customer’s fee. A subsidy smaller than the full price still leaves the customer a balance due.

  • Courier tips: customer-paid tips are tracked separately from the delivery fee.

  • Failed or cancelled jobs: a fee can still bill unless it’s credited.

Missed pickup fees

  • If a driver marks “customer wasn’t home” or the customer cancels, Cents can create a Missed Pickup Fee order.

  • Under Delivery Settings → Pickup & Delivery Fee Settings, you choose how these are handled: auto-charge, hold for manual review, or auto-resolve.

How it appears on your bill

  • All Cents invoices are sent on the 1st of each month. When you use on-demand partner through Cents Dispatch, your customer pays you directly at the time of the order. After the month closes, we bill you for the courier fees from that month on your next invoice.

Common questions

  • Charged for a cancelled delivery?
On-demand fees can still bill for a failed or cancelled job unless they’re credited. If you think a charge is wrong, email [email protected].

  • The customer paid, but Cents is also charging me?
For on-demand delivery the customer pays the delivery fee and Cents separately charges you the courier cost — those are two different transactions.

  • Don’t see a delivery charge this month?
Delivery usage bills on a later invoice than the service month, so it shows up the following month.

  • Why is my customer still charged after I set a subsidy?
A subsidy only covers the part you set. If it’s less than the full fee, the customer pays the remainder.
