How To Set Up Your Scale Adapter Connection

These are instructions for getting started with your Cents Scale Adapter. The Cents Scale Adapter is a device that connects physically to your scale and wirelessly to your wifi network. It allows for the weight of a load of laundry to be automatically entered into the Cents Employee App, without the need for manual entry.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  1. Wifi 2.4 GHz network:

    1. It can also be a dual band network that includes both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz

  2. Your wifi password

  3. Scale that is supported for use with our scale adapter:

4. Cents Scale Adapter (1), with power adapter (2) and scale connector cable (3):

  1. The scale connector cable may look slightly different than the one pictured below, depending on the scale you use:

HARDWARE SETUP:

  1. Insert the scale connector cable into the scale adapter:

  2. Turn both screws of the scale connector cable until they are tight, to secure the cable to the adapter:
    ​

  3. Find the port pictured below on your scale:

  4. Insert the other end of the scale connector cable into the scale:

  5. Plug the scale adapter’s power cord into an outlet

  6. Ensure your scale is powered on

  7. Your setup should look like this:

    1. The #1 cable is the power cable for the scale

    2. The #2 cable is the scale connector cable

    3. The #3 cable is the power cord for the scale adapter

  8. Your hardware connections are now complete!

WIFI SETUP:

  1. Upon powering up a new scale adapter, the green light will flicker for a short while, then it will transition to a repeating 4-blink sequence:

    1. This means that it’s broadcasting a wifi signal

  2. Go to your Cents tablet and launch the Settings app

    1. NOTE: the wifi setup can be done on any mobile device connected to your wifi

  3. Tap “Connections“ in the left side of the screen

  4. On the right side of the screen, tap “Wi-Fi“ (it should be toggled on like you see in the image below)

  5. The screen will look like this:

    1. Area #1 is the wifi network that our tablet is currently connected to (your's will be different)

    2. Area #2 is the wifi signal (network) that our scale adapter is broadcasting (your's will be different)

  6. Tap on the “Cents Scale Adapter” network

  7. Enter this password: tryCents#1

    1. The password is case sensitive

  8. Tap “Connect”

  9. If you see this screen, just tap “Always connect“:

  10. Your tablet is now connected, temporarily, to the scale adapter’s network:

  11. Launch the Google Chrome app

  12. Type this into the address bar: 192.168.42.1:3000

    1. You can also scan this QR code with the tablet's camera instead of typing it in manually:

  13. You will be brought to a wifi sign-in screen:

    1. You may need to refresh the page a few times in order to get the page to load:

  14. At this point in the process, your scale adapter should still be repeating the 4-blink sequence

  15. Select your own wifi network/SSID (use the dropdown menu if necessary) and enter your wifi Password/Passphrase and tap “Connect”

    1. NOTE: We recommend clicking the eyeball icon in the password field to ensure the correct password is being entered

  16. You will now see this screen:

    1. NOTE: There may also be a message on this screen with the word “Danger” in it. As long as your wifi username/SSID and Password/Passphrase are correct (you can click the eyeball icon in the Password field to see the Password), there is nothing to worry about:

  17. Your scale adapter will have stopped blinking and will have a solid green light after a few minutes

  18. Your tablet is now back to being connected to your own wifi network without you having done anything, and you can close out of Google Chrome

  19. NOTE: If the adapter green light doesn’t become solid 3 minutes after the final step, then unplug the adapter from the outlet and start the WIFI SETUP from the beginning

  20. Your scale adapter is now all setup!!

REGISTERING THE SCALE ADAPTER:

  1. Launch the Cents Employee App

  2. Tap the 3-line icon in the top left of the screen:

  3. In the menu that appears, tap “Connections“:

  4. Tap “Register a device“:

  5. You’ll be taken to this screen:

  6. The number you need to type into the text box can be located on the scale adapter:
    ​

  7. After inputting the number on the registration screen in the app, tap “Register“

  8. NOTE: If you receive a message indicating that the device could not be found, please contact your account manager, as they will need to adjust a setting in our system:

  9. Tap the 3-line icon in the top left of the screen and then “Connections“

  10. You will now see on the “Connections“ screen that the scale adapter is “Connected”:

  11. You are now ready to test the scale and see the weight automatically get entered into the Cents Employee App while taking an order

TESTING YOUR SCALE ADAPTER AND SCALE:

  1. Start taking a New Service Order

  2. When you arrive at the “How much does the order weigh?” screen, ensure that your scale reads: 0 lbs

  3. Place the laundry on your scale:

  4. In the Cents Employee App, tap the scale icon:

  5. After a few seconds, the weight will register:

  6. The test is complete!
