In this article, you will learn how to enable and use tipping on the card reader!
To get started, you will need to head to the Cents Business Manager and click into Locations. To enable this setting on the location level, navigate to the store you would like to set up. Next, click into the three dot menu in the top right and click “Configure Payment Options.”
Once you are here, scroll down until you see a section called “Tipping on the Card Reader.” Simply toggle on this setting. This can be enabled even if tipping is disabled at the business level.
Please note that tipping on the card reader is ONLY available on the WisePOS card reader. If you do not have this card reader at your store location, please reach out to your account manager.
The default tip options will display on the reader as 15%, 20%, and 25% for all orders over $10 and will display as $1, $2, and $3 for all orders under $10.
Once you have enabled this in the Business Manager, make sure to sign out/sign in to the cents Employee Application and Business Manager AND restart your card reader.
Next, go to the Employee Application and complete the order building flow. Once you have completed your order and are ready to pay for the items, you will see that the tipping screen now displays the message “Waiting for customer to pay on the card reader.”
The screen below is an example of what the customer will see when they go to tip on the reader.
Lastly, choose your tip and pay for the order directly on the card reader.
If you are having trouble seeing the update on your app, you may need to hard refresh and try again.
