How to Update or Add Bank Accounts

Update the bank account and payment details Cents pays out to, from the payment details page.

Written by Euri

Your bank account is where Cents deposits the online payments your customers make. You can update the account, add more than one, and choose which account each store's payouts go to. Cents uses Stripe to verify accounts and send payouts securely.

Use this if you need payouts to go to a different bank account, want separate accounts for different stores, or need to move a store to another account.

Before you start

  • Only the business owner can connect or change bank accounts. Admins can't.

  • Use a desktop or laptop computer. This doesn't work well on a phone or tablet.

  • Have the routing number and account number ready. The account should be in your business or DBA name. A mismatch can cause Stripe to pause payouts.

  • Allow pop-ups for admin.trycents.com so the Stripe verification window can open.

How to add or update a bank account

  • Log in to Cents Business Manager at admin.trycents.com and open Admin.

  • Go to Account Settings and open the Payments tab. By default, all your stores use the account already connected.

  • When verification is done, you'll come back to Cents. Enter the routing number and account number and click Connect.

Keep your current account connected until the new one is verified and assigned, so deposits aren't interrupted.

How to choose which account each store uses

  • On the Payments page, click Edit Assigned Locations in the upper right.

  • Each store shows a dropdown. Choose the bank account for each store, then click Save.

  • Both accounts now show as connected. Payouts for each store go to the account you chose.

Important things to know

  • Payouts route by the bank account assigned to each location. Payouts already in progress finish to the previous account.

  • Once verified, payouts usually arrive within a couple of business days, and aren't sent on weekends or bank holidays.

  • You can reconcile online payments in the Online Payment Breakdown report, which shows the bank name for each payout.

  • Selling a store or changing owners? Contact our Support team. The new owner connects their own account as a new bank account rather than editing the existing one. See also How to Add or Edit a Team Member in the Business Manager.

Troubleshooting

  • The Stripe window didn't open.
A pop-up blocker is likely stopping it. Allow pop-ups for admin.trycents.com and click Verify Business again.

  • "Invalid Account Number. Account number must be at least 12 characters long."
Try adding 00 in front of your account number, then submit again.

  • Payouts are paused or the account is frozen.
This is usually a business type or bank name mismatch. The account must be in your business or DBA name. Check those details and contact our Support team.

  • I changed the account but money still went to the old one.
Check the store is assigned to the new account under Edit Assigned Locations. Payouts already in progress finish to the old account.

  • I can't see the Payments options.
Only the business owner can manage bank accounts. Log in with the owner's account.
