How to Set Up Marketing Campaigns with Blasts and Journeys

Build a marketing campaign from scratch or from a pre-built template in the Campaigns tab of Business Manager.

Written by Euri

Cents Accelerate gives you two ways to reach customers by email or text. Blasts are messages you send once or on a repeating schedule. Journeys send automatically when something happens, like a new customer signing up or an order being completed.

Use this if you want to promote an offer, win back customers, ask for reviews, or welcome new customers automatically.

Before you start

  • Cents Accelerate is set up for your business.

  • Customers who opted out of marketing (replied STOP) won't get marketing texts or emails. They can text START to opt back in.

  • For texts, your number must be registered with the phone carriers. See How Cents Accelerate Messaging Works.

  • To target specific customers, create a customer group first: go to My Stores > Customers > Groups > New Group, apply filters (like last order date, total orders, average spend, location, or customer type), click Apply Filter, name the group, and save. See How to Create Customer Groups and Mass Message Your Customers.

Send a Blast (one-time or repeating)

  • Go to My Stores > Marketing > Blasts and click Create.

  • Name the blast and choose SMS or Email.

  • Pick your audience: a customer group or all customers.

  • Write your message, or start from an email template.

  • Choose when to send: now, at a scheduled time, or on a repeating schedule. Then send or schedule it.

Each blast shows its status (Draft, Started, or Finished) and how many customers were reached or skipped.

Create a Journey (automatic)

  • Go to My Stores > Marketing > Journeys and click New. Start from Blank or a template like Welcome Email or No Orders in Last 30 Days.

  • Enter a Journey Name. It's an internal label and can't be blank.

  • Choose the trigger: A customer is created, An order is placed, An order is completed, or A customer joins a group (pick the group too).

  • (Optional) Turn on Restrict to a specific audience to limit it to one group or a list of customers. Each Journey can target one group.

  • (Optional) Under Advanced Options, set Quiet hours so texts only go out during the day, for example 9 AM to 9 PM in the customer's time zone. Quiet hours are off by default.

  • In Steps, click Select an Existing Template, or add your email or SMS steps and any wait times between them. To edit a template, click Edit, then Edit Manually, change the text, and save.

  • Click Test Journey, switch to Manual, enter your own email or phone number, and send a test.

  • Click Save Journey, then Activate. The Journey sends every time the trigger happens from now on.

Edit a Journey

  • If the Journey is Active, click Deactivate first.

  • Open it, click Edit, make your changes, and click Save and Exit.

  • Click Activate again. Pausing and resuming won't double-send to customers already in it.

Important things to know

  • Journeys only look forward. They enroll customers who meet the trigger after you activate. To reach customers who already match, send a Blast to a group.

  • Your default sending address looks like [email protected], based on your company name in Admin > Account Details. You can use your own domain instead, see How to Set Up a Custom Sending Domain.

  • Email replies go to the email set in Contact Center > Escalation Settings (or your login email). Text replies show in Contact Center > Messages.

  • Open a Journey's Activity tab to see emails sent, opened, and bounced, plus who's enrolled and which step they're on. "In Progress" means they haven't finished every step yet.

  • You can't remove one customer from a live Journey yourself. Opt them out, exclude them with the audience filter, or text our Support team.

Troubleshooting

  • Your Journey didn't message existing customers.
Journeys only enroll customers from the moment you activate them. Send a Blast to a group to reach existing customers.

  • You can't edit a Journey.
Click Deactivate first, make your changes, then activate it again.

  • The Journey won't save.
Make sure it has a name. If the trigger is A customer joins a group, pick the group too.

  • Test Journey fails with "customer has no email".
Switch the test to Manual and type the email or phone number.

  • Test emails go to spam.
That's normal at first. Start with smaller sends (around 100 customers) on staggered days. If open rates stay under 10% after 100+ emails, text our Support team.

  • Texts arrive later than expected.
Check Quiet hours under Advanced Options. Messages wait until quiet hours end.

  • New customers didn't get a repeating Blast.
All customers is saved as a snapshot. Send to a group so new matches are included.

  • Some customers were skipped.
Click the Skipped count to see why. They may have opted out, be missing an email or phone number, or not match the audience.

  • A customer didn't get an SMS.
Most often they opted out. Other causes: your number isn't registered yet, quiet hours held the message, or they don't have a valid mobile number.
