How Cents Accelerate Messaging Works

Separate marketing and transactional texts in Cents Accelerate so order updates still reach customers who opted out of promotions.

Written by Euri

Cents Accelerate is how you text and email your customers from Cents: one-on-one conversations, marketing blasts, and automatic Journeys. This guide shows where everything lives, how your two messaging numbers work, and the rules that affect delivery.

Use this if you're new to Cents Accelerate, or aren't sure which number your messages come from or where to find them.

Where everything lives

  • Customer conversations: Business Manager > Contact Center > Messages (tabs: Primary, Unread, Escalations, Other). Replies to any text you send land here.

  • Texting from the store: Employee App > Customers > open a customer > Messages, or Messages on the Home screen.

  • Marketing: Business Manager > My Stores > Marketing, with Blasts, Journeys, Email Templates, Brand Kit, and Custom Domains.

  • Customer groups: My Stores > Customers > Groups. See How to Create Customer Groups and Mass Message Your Customers.

Your two messaging numbers

Your business can have two numbers, so order updates still reach customers even if they opt out of promotions:

  • Marketing number: campaigns, promotions, and automated Accelerate messages (Blasts and Journeys).

  • Transactional number: order status updates, delivery notifications, and Assist escalations.

  • Cents Global Number: used only for one-time password (OTP) login codes.

  • New Accelerate businesses get both numbers automatically.

  • Existing businesses can text our Support team to request a transactional number. Your current number becomes your marketing number.

Rules that affect delivery

  • Opt-outs: customers reply STOP (or unsubscribe) to stop texts and START to resume. They opt out of each number separately, so they can stop marketing texts and still get order updates. Email and SMS opt-outs are also separate.

  • Length: texts are limited to 160 characters.

  • Registration: your number has to be registered with the phone carriers before you can text. This usually takes 1 to 2 weeks during onboarding.

Troubleshooting

  • Looking for the separate Accelerate login or Inbox?
That older tool has been replaced. Use Contact Center > Messages in Business Manager.

  • Can't find Campaigns?
They're now under My Stores > Marketing as Blasts and Journeys.

  • A customer isn't getting your texts.
They may have opted out of that number. Ask them to text START to the number they opted out of.

  • A customer opted out of marketing but still gets order texts.
That's expected. Order updates come from your transactional number.

  • Messages are failing or land in Other.
Your texting registration may not be complete. Text our Support team so we can check.

  • Did OTP codes change?
No. They still come from the Cents Global Number.
