How to Use the Cents Driver App

Build, start, and manage driver routes in the Cents Driver App, from picking stops and optimizing the order to working each stop and completing the route.

Written by Euri

The Cents Driver App is where your drivers log in, on iOS or Android, to manage all of the pickups and deliveries for a location. This guide covers building a route, starting it, working each stop, and completing it, plus how to build routes ahead of time.

Video walkthrough

Before you start

  • The Driver App is available on iOS and Android. Drivers log in to see and manage the pickups and deliveries for their location.

  • You can build routes right in the Driver App, or set them up ahead of time in the Business Manager.

  • Drivers with manager access can build and assign routes from the app. Other drivers work the routes assigned to them.

The Driver App home screen

When a driver logs in, the home screen opens to a map-forward view. It shows an icon for the store plus pins for all of the pickups and deliveries. If you set routes in the Business Manager ahead of time, they appear in the list at the bottom. The driver can also switch the location address at the top as needed.

Create a new route

  1. Tap New Route. The starting point defaults to your location address. To start somewhere else, such as a driver's home, tap the starting point and set a different address.

  2. Choose the stops for the route from your unrouted stops. Select every stop in a window with the checkbox, or tap the arrow icon to pick individual stops from the list.

  3. If the list is long, use the search icon to find a stop, or the filter icon to filter by pickup only, delivery only, or recurring orders, and to include orders that are still in processing. Tap Save.

  4. Set your endpoint. It defaults to the store address, but you can change it.

  5. Tap Create Route.

Name your route

A new route is named after the window and today's date. To rename it, tap the name and enter something like "Joe's Route," then tap Done. To keep the default name, tap the arrow to continue.

Edit and optimize a route

Once the route exists, tap Edit to adjust it:

  • Reorder stops by dragging the three-dot handle on the right.

  • Flip the route to reverse the order.

  • Add more unrouted stops to the route.

  • Optimize the route by distance (not traffic based), by current traffic conditions, or leave it as your manual order so drivers can optimize when they start.

Other route actions

  • Message the route: Send a message to everyone on the route at once, for example if the driver is running behind. You can also message individual customers on the route.

  • Delete the route: Deleting a route moves its stops back to unrouted so you can start over.

Start the route

When you're ready, tap Start. Cents sends a text to every customer on the route letting them know the driver is on the way for pickup or delivery, where they fall in the route (for example, stop 1 of 5), and that they'll get another text when the driver is on the way to their stop. The next stop is highlighted at the top of the list.

Work each stop

Open a stop to see its details and take action:

  • Call or message the customer. If you have Cents Accelerate enabled, messaging appears here too.

  • Update the number of bags or hanger bundles if it differs from what the customer entered when they placed the order online.

  • Review pickup and delivery instructions, care preferences, order notes, and internal customer notes.

  • Take a photo of the pickup. It saves to the order notes on the customer's account, so you can refer back to it if any issues come up.

  • Mark a missed pickup with the (!) button. If missed pickup fees are enabled, the customer is charged once the route is completed.

  • Mark the stop completed. You'll be prompted to take a photo, which you can skip.

Navigate to a stop

Tap Go to open your routing tool of choice, such as Waze, Google Maps, or your device default, and get directions to the stop. When you do, the customer gets a text that the driver is on the way, along with an ETA. As long as the route is not yet completed, you can go back to any stop and re-mark it, for example if a customer calls to say they are home after all.

Complete the route

When you complete the route, every order that was submitted online and awaiting driver pickup is marked ready for intake at the store. Your in-store team can then start processing those orders and move them through their life cycle. Once processing is done, add the orders to a new route to handle the return deliveries.

Build routes in advance

You can build routes up to seven days ahead. Use the arrow buttons at the bottom to move between days. In the Stops area, search and filter just like you do on Routes, then assign stops to a specific window, to a live route, or to an existing route you already created. This is handy when a customer places an order last minute and you want to slot it into a route you already built. You can do this in the Driver App with manager access, or in the Business Manager.
