How to Set Up Push Notifications in the Driver App

The Cents Driver App now supports push notifications so you can get real-time alerts for new orders and messages from customers on your route — without having to keep the app open all day.

Written by Sivan Salem

Before You Start

  • Push notifications require updating to the latest version of the Cents Driver App.

  • Notifications are opt-in only — you won't receive any until you enable them.

  • Your device must grant notification permission to the Cents app. You'll be prompted to allow this when you first enable notifications.

Enabling Push Notifications for the First Time

When you open the app after updating, a prompt will appear at the bottom of your screen asking if you want to enable push notifications.

Tapping the prompt takes you directly to the Push Notifications settings screen, where you can turn on notifications for new orders, messages, or both.

If you missed the prompt, you can always access notification settings manually (see below).

Accessing Notification Settings

  1. Open the Cents Driver App

  2. Tap the account icon in the top-left corner of the screen

  3. Select Push Notifications

  4. Toggle on the notification types you want to receive

Notification Types

New Orders

Get notified when new orders become available. You can configure two things:

Timing

  • Days in advance — notify you about upcoming orders before the pickup day

  • Same day — notify you only on the day of the order

Scope

  • All orders — notify you about any available order

  • Newly routed orders only — notify you only when an order is freshly assigned to a route

Tapping a new order notification opens that order directly so you can assign it to a route or window right away.

Messages

Get notified when a customer on your active route sends you a message.

Note: Message notifications are only sent for customers who are currently on one of your active routes. You won't receive notifications for messages from customers who are not on a route.

Tapping a message notification opens the conversation with that customer directly.

Turning Notifications Off

You can turn off either notification type at any time:

  1. Tap the account icon in the top-left corner

  2. Select Push Notifications

  3. Toggle off the notification type you want to disable

Troubleshooting

  • I'm not receiving any notifications. Make sure you've enabled notifications in the app (account icon → Push Notifications) and that your device's notification settings allow the Cents app to send notifications. Check your phone's settings under Notifications → Cents and make sure they're turned on.

  • I only see some notifications, not all of them. Check your order notification settings — you may have scope set to "Newly routed orders only" or timing set to "Same day." Adjust these in account icon → Push Notifications to match what you want.

  • I'm getting message notifications for customers I don't recognize. Message notifications are sent for customers on your active routes. If you're seeing unexpected messages, check your current route assignments in the app.

  • I don't see the account icon in the top-left. Make sure you're on the latest version of the Cents Driver App. The account icon and notification settings are new in this update — update the app and try again.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I get notified for both new orders and messages? Yes — you can enable both independently. Toggle on whichever combination works best for you.

  • Will I get notified if I have the app open? Push notifications are delivered as standard banner notifications by your device's OS. Behavior may vary slightly depending on whether the app is in the foreground or background.

  • Can I change my notification settings after the initial setup? Yes — your notification preferences are always accessible from the account icon in the top-left of the app. You can change them anytime.

  • Do I need to set up notifications again if I log out and back in? Your notification preferences are saved to your account. If you log out and back in, your settings should be preserved — but you may need to re-enable OS-level notification permissions if you've reset them on your device.
