In layman's terms, what is the Cents Pulse?

The Cents Pulse is a device that mounts internally to a washer or dryer. Using the Pulse device and its seamless integration with the Cents business manager, a laundromat can remotely start machines, access runtime insights, and provide users a means of paying for and starting a machine via a web based application.

In technical terms, what is the Cents Pulse?

The pulse is a non user-facing device mounted within the laundry machine. It communicates to the cloud via WiFi/MQTT and controls machine via GPIO (pulse) and serial. It is also powered via machine power (12-24 VAC/VDC).

How big is the Pulse?

3.6” diameter, 1.25” tall puck shaped device.

Does the Pulse physically take credit cards?

As the Pulse is an internal hardware device, it is not built to interact physically with credit cards or Apple/Google Pay. All payments will be taken care of via a visible machine QR code sticker on the face of the machine.

Is the pulse waterproof and heat resistant?

The Pulse mounts to a flat, clean metal surface on the interior of a laundry machine adjacent to the machine’s control board. Industrial double-sided tape is used which provides a permanent mount. It will not come into contact with water from the washer or heated air from the dryer.

How does the customer use the Pulse?

The customer will not physically interact with the Pulse device. They will use their smartphone to scan a QR code on the machine and use a web-based application to build their cycle and ultimately start the machine.

How does the customer specify how they want their load of laundry done?

The customer will need to update their preferred settings on the machine itself; once the relevant cycle is selected, they will be able to scan the QR code affixed to the machine to add credits and pay for their load.

How does it connect to the internet?

The pulse device connects to wifi via a built-in wifi antenna.

What if my wifi is weak?

We create each laundromat a unique network that will broadcast a strong wifi signal, using our access points, to ensure all the Pulses have maximum up-time.

How is the Pulse installed?

We will help you connect with your distributor to facilitate the installation. A distributor will bring the Pulses to your store and install them.

How long does installation take?

It should take approximately 5 minutes per device

How are payouts handled?

All transactions for the pulse will be processed through Stripe and can be conveniently verified using the Cents Online Payouts Breakdown report.

Are there any basic troubleshooting steps I can take if a Pulse goes down?

Power cycle the washer or dryer, as the Penny draws its power from the machine. You can also restart your wifi router if it’s a connectivity issue. See the troubleshooting article here for further information.

How will reporting on sales work?

You’ll be able to run a wide variety of reports on the Cents Business Manager, which can be accessed anywhere in the world from a browser.

What kinds of machines does the Pulse currently support?

Right now we support most Alliance & Dexter machines. We are hoping to be able to integrate with Electrolux and Maytag soon.

How am I billed for the Pulses?
