How to Deactivate and Reactivate a Promotional Code

Turn off a live promotion from Admin, Promotions so customers can no longer redeem it.

Written by Euri

Turn a promo code off when an offer ends, and turn it back on any time. Inactive codes stay saved with their history, but customers and staff can't apply them.

Use this if a promotion has ended, you want to pause a code, or you want to bring back a code you used before.

How to deactivate a promo code

  • Log in to Cents Business Manager, click Admin in the top navigation, then click Promotions in the left-hand menu.

  • Make sure the Active tab is selected at the top of the list, then click the promo code.

  • At the bottom of the promotion details, turn off the Active toggle. The code moves to the Inactive tab.

How to view and reactivate an inactive promo code

  • On the Promotions page, click the Inactive tab at the top of the list.

  • Click the promo code you want to bring back. You can use the search icon to find it.

  • Turn on the Active toggle at the bottom of the promotion details. The code moves back to the Active tab.

Important things to know

  • An inactive code is rejected if someone tries to apply it at checkout or online.

  • Reactivating a code keeps all of its original settings, like the discount, locations, eligible customers, start date, and active days. Check them before you turn it back on.

  • Each promotion shows how much customers have saved, how many times it's been used, and how many customers used it.

Troubleshooting

  • I can't find a promo code.
Check the Inactive tab, or use the search icon at the top of the list.

  • A code still doesn't work after I reactivated it.
Review its settings: the start date, active days, locations, eligible customers, and any minimum requirement all still apply.

  • I want to change a code instead of turning it off.
Click the code on the Active tab and update its details.
